The goal of this article is to give a roadmap to the researchers that help to understand the progress, threat and what has happened in the Internet of Things (IoT) market place so that the researchers can set their future plan to implement IoT in industrial sector effectively. This article presents not only a comprehensive survey on conversion of existing automation industry to IoT based future industry but also gives a conceptual architecture and insights of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The concept of IIoT is quite different from the general class of IoT which accommodates large number of nodes for real time processing in industry. It has better controlled latency at various hierarchical levels, provides smarter services in monitoring and alarm management with high reliability, high availability and safe & resilience to failure. The IIoT is the use of IoT technologies in process, products and services that communicate with each other and with people over a global network. IoT based devices, sensors, smart machinery and equipments communicate through industry LAN or wireless communication system; will have the ability to make manufacturing processes smart through self-optimization and autonomous decision applying Big Data platform and Cloud Computing. The present article also focuses how the Internet of Things and its variant will affect industrial automation, control systems of the process and manufacturing industries in the name, Industrial Internet of Thing (IIoT). It has been revealed that the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is a revolution that is gradually changing the face of industry in a profound manner. The architecture of the control system of the future will be completely determined by the use of Internet of Things (IoT).
